How do I know if my roof has hail damage?
Usually you can't, not from the ground. A bruised shingle often looks fine from the driveway while the mat underneath it is broken. Granules collecting at the downspouts, dents in gutters and metal trim, and new spots on a ceiling are the signs worth acting on. The rest takes a trained look from the roof itself.
Does a storm inspection cost anything?
It's free, and you keep the photo report either way, including the visits where the answer is that your roof came through the storm fine.
How long do I have to file a hail claim?
Most policies set a deadline measured from the date of the storm, and it differs by carrier, so read yours early. Getting the roof documented now costs nothing and keeps the option open while you find out.
Will filing a claim raise my rates?
That decision belongs to your insurer, and any contractor who tells you otherwise is guessing. What a documented inspection gives you is the evidence to decide whether there is anything worth filing about in the first place.
How can I tell if a door-knocking crew is legitimate?
Ask for a Nebraska registration number and a local address, then look both up. Ours is 30526-25 and the trucks park at 1113 E Overland in Scottsbluff. A crew that arrives with the storm and leaves with it can rarely answer either question.
